Seventh Healthcare Chaplaincy Course Concludes

The 7th annual Muslim Healthcare Chaplaincy Course of the MCB’s Muslim Spiritual Care Provision was held at picturesque Gilwell Park, Essex between 12th -17th September 2012. Both male and female participants from London, Leicester, Oldham, Newcastle, Newport as well as one participant from Oslo in Norway attended the course.

The MSCP Chaplaincy course is one of the most recognised courses in the UK and is acknowledged by the NHS Trusts and the Department of Health. The course provides training for aspiring Muslim Chaplains to work within the public sector to work for the common good in helping others. The course is recognised and assessed by the Cardiff Centre for Chaplaincy Studies of the Cardiff University and discussion about full accreditation is taking place. All participants presented exceptional results by the end of the course.

The training concluded with a certificate award ceremony, chaired by Dr Shuja Shafi, Chair of the Muslim Spiritual Care Provision (MSCP) project of the MCB, Mr Barry Mussendan, Head of Equality and Partnership for the Department of Health, Mr Stephen O’Brien, Chair of London’s largest NHS Trusts - Barts Health, Mr Farooq Murad, Secretary General of the MCB and Reverend Debbie Hodge, Churches Together in England addressed participants and attendees briefly and took part in awarding the certificates.
