Eid Message from Dr Shuja Shafi, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain

Dr Shuja ShafiOn this occasion of Eid al-Adha, in the Islamic year 1435, I wish all a happy Eid Mubarak. In this particular Eid Muslims remember the sacrifice the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) was prepared to make for Allah, and the mercy God gives to his servants. In this story we remember the importance of making our own sacrifices to Allah, through good worship and good works.

It is during this month that millions of pilgrims from around the world converge on Makkah to recall the steps Ibrahim and his family had taken to serve Allah. May the prayers of the returning Hajjis be answered, as well as the prayers of all other Muslims who could not make this journey of a lifetime.
