Amirah Foundation presents a special fund raising dinner to end violence against women across the UK. We are calling on our brothers to come out and bring their families and be the ones who will stand up and say \\\"Enough is enough!\\\"
There are two women killed every week by their partners or former partners. That is two women too much. Our work is essential as it means vulnerable and abused women can move into safe and secure homes which are permanent and away from abusive family and partners. We provide a wide range of services which include welfare, education and social services. These services allow women to escape the poverty that may be stopping them from becoming independent.
We also provide support to new Muslim women who have suffered abuse by their families because of their decision to accept Islam. We have helped many women who have become homeless because of this.
Since our launch 18 months ago we have helped over 85 women and their children by providing housing, welfare, education and help towards finding employment. We run a series of local level events such as back to work courses to help women find employment, weekly coffee mornings which give women a space to relax and make friends and beginners mehndi courses so as to develop a useful skill.
It is only with your help and support that we can continue this vital work. Please join us on Saturday the 15th of December at the prestigious Pearl Palace in Birmingham and be entertained and informed whilst enjoying a fantastic three course meal. Doors open at 6.30pm for a prompt 7pm start.
The event is hosted by the hilarious Ismael South (Mecca 2 Medina) and talented Faraz Yousufzai (Silk Road). Entertainment on the night will be by the superb poet Sukina from Poetic Pilgrimage and the seriously funny Limz The Comedian. There will be short presentations by our Directors Shaz Manir and Lorraine Chow as well as the Muslim motorbike crew Deen Riders.
Our special guest on the night is none other than Lauren Booth. We are so privileged to have Lauren\\\'s support and her talk on the night is sure to be electrifying. Lauren came to know of us when she was looking for someone to help a sister in need. She put her in touch with us and we\\\'re grateful to say that we were able to help.
There will be other surprise guests and special items at auction!
