The project is seeking volunteers in various cities to assist in raising awareness on religious discrimination legislation.
Volunteers are needed to:
Support in a legal advice 'surgery' located at a mosque or community centre.
Assisting in the organisation of seminars on the legislation to be attended by community and advice providers.
Disseminating information on the project.
Assessment for potential training by the Citizens Advise Bureau.
It is anticipated that volunteers will be required to work for one or two afternoons in a week until April 2005.
Academic qualifications or experience is not essential. However we believe that the work will interest law students and trainee solicitors/pupil barristers who would like to become involved in an important area of community affairs. It will provide a unique opportunity to work with legal practitioners in a new area of law. Induction training and out of pocket expenses will be provided.
