Food Standards Working towards an ‘International Halal Standard’, a four-way collaboration agreement was signed by The International Halal Integrity Alliance (IHI), The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), The American Halal Association (AHA) and the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) at the World Halal Forum Europe 2010 in London on the 10th-11th November 2010. The four well established bodies will work together on issues relating to Halal Standards development and the formation of a network of national Halal Accreditation bodies to ensure the standard of Halal through the chain of suppliers. One of the key resolutions of the Forum included enjoining collaborative actions to tackle the discriminatory EU amendment 205 which, if passed, will impose forced labelling of Halal and Kosher meat as ‘unstunned.’ The theme of the event was 'Halal Products and Services – Going Mainstream’ and provided an opportunity to discuss issues surrounding the Halal Industry and ways to make it better. The event was attended by organisations across Europe, Australia, South East Asia and North America, with a total of over 30 countries represented.
