Muslim children not taught to question? 'a response from Inayat Bunglawala'
Editor Evening Standard London 26th April 2008
Dear Sir,
Yasmin Alibhai-Brown says (Evening Standard, 24th April 2008) that she is appalled that 'a Muslim child is never taught to question'. One would have thoughtthat Ms Brown would have had the common sense to refrain from making such silly generalisations.
Muslims - in common with other communities - are by no means homogeneous and Muslim parents are certainly not clones of each other. I can well understand that she feels the need to promote herself at every opportunity as the enlightened one, but denigrating whole swathes of the population is not a particularly honest or ethical way of achieving that goal.
Yours faithfully, Mr Inayat Bunglawala, Assistant Secretary-General, Muslim Council of Britain PO Box 57330, London E1 2WJ
