For the second year running the Muslim Spiritual Care Provision in the NHS successfully completed an intensive course for aspiring Muslim healthcare chaplains. The course catered for the needs of both existing PTE chaplains as well as preparing the aspiring chaplains to attain required professional skills oriented to specific Muslim needs.
The course content is designed to comply with the Multi Faith Group on Healthcare Chaplaincy's (MFGHC) syllabus and Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) taking into account the guidelines provided by the NHS. The trainers include both Muslim scholars as well as Chaplaincy professionals of other faiths.
Muslim Spiritual Care Provision in the NHS is a joint project of the Department of Health and the Muslim Council of Britain. The objective of the project is to provide professionally trained Muslim healthcare Chaplains to the NHS hospitals whenever an opportunity arises.
