Indonesia's Islamic movements
The Producer BBC Breakfast TV
17th October 2002
Dear Sirs,
This morning, at around 7.45am, BBC Breakfast TV included an interview with the former US National Security Advisor, Mr Robert MacFarlane, about the 'war on terror' and whether it has been effective to date.
We were quite disappointed about the line of questioning adopted by the BBC Breakfast presenter. No questions were asked about whether the massive and unstinting US support for Israel or its vigorous enforcement of the economic embargo against Iraq has contributed to an increase in anti-American sentiment in the Muslim world.
It must be obvious by now that the 'war on terror' cannot be won unless it is also accompanied in changes in American government attitudes towards Muslim countries.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Inayat Bunglawala Secretary, Media Committee, The Muslim Council of Britain
