Shariah TV is a groundbreaking new discussion series on Channel 4, tackling the real issues of living a Muslim lifestyle within secular British society. People aged 18-35 are invited to join our studio audience to seek advice and clarity on personal dilemmas from our panel of highly respected Imams and Islamic experts.
The five-part series provides a unique opportunity for both Muslim viewers and those of other faiths to see Islam examined in an honest, sensitive and unsensationalised way, and is a chance to unravel confusions that people may have about Islam. The five programmes will cover the following topics:
Programme 1: Perceptions of Islam
Confronting and clarifying Islam and its common misunderstandings both within and outside Islam, e.g. media misrepresentation, stereotypes, etc.
Programme 2: Family Islam
Issues of relationships, marriage, interfaith relationships, Shariah law versus civil law, children, education, etc.
Programme 3: Consumer Islam
Financial issues, e.g. interest, Islamic finance, careers, women working, and the 'cultural' issues, e.g. music, films, TV, youth behavior.
Programme 4: Citizen Islam
Muslim involvement in British society, politics, police, army, foreign policy, etc.
Programme 5: Faiths encountering Islam / Islam encounters others
An interfaith dialogue with other religious figures and audience members.
The success of the series depends on good, practical questions from the studio audience that are based on real personal experiences

Filming will take place on Saturday 17th, Sunday 18th April and Sunday 25th April at Channel 4 studios near Watford - you only need to be available for one of the dates. All travel expenses and hospitality will be provided.
