MEEM Music Present the 786 Tour of New Nasheed Artists
Fri 28 May 2004
`Meem recognise the importance of music as a vehicle for conveying the truth and beauty of the message of Islam – we applaud their creative thinking and the wealth of talent they are bringing together.'
MEEM Music is organising a ground breaking tour of its talented artists in schools and other centres up and down Britain. Schools and organisations – be they in Scotland, England or Wales – are being offered the exciting opportunity to have these artists perform in their locality.

MEEM is proud to announce its latest signing of the US Nasheed (Islamic Songs) group sensation 786, five brothers from Detroit, USA, who will be touring alongside Shaheed Alkawn from Durban, South Africa, and Khaleel Muhammad from London from 15-25 June 2004. They will be also performing at the annual FOSIS conference in Nottingham.

  • 786 sing in English, Urdu and Arabic, in a variety of styles ranging from Qawwali to R'n'B, and perform live using only one drum and plenty of fantastic harmonies. They will be releasing their debut UK album (which will feature only voice and percussion material) in June, God willing. Please refer to our website at www.meem.info where you will see our latest and forthcoming releases. You can also listen to assorted clips from the yet to be released albums.

  • Shaheed Alkawn was last in the UK for the exceptional sell-out Nasheed Extravaganza Concerts with his blend of voice-only, beat-boxing and hilarious comedy. He returns to the UK to launch his new album Amazing Allah, a soothingly melodious voice-only album in praise of Almighty God. This follows his unique and popular album release last year, Unity. He will also be introducing UK audiences to his own blend of Islamic martial arts

  • Khaleel Muhammad, the man whose children's workshops and productions are legendary. He's the guy who brought you The Adventures of Abdul Hakim and Muslim Heroes: Saladin. Khaleel will be singing nasheeds from his debut album 'Heaven' and giving his usual fun and educational workshops for kids.

The artists will not be charging any performance fees for non-commercial events; only a contribution towards their UK travel and accommodation will be sought.
