The MCB Youth Committees' monthly meeting in March took place in the City of Coventry in the West Midlands: home to approximately 35,000 British Muslims and a City famous for the car-making industry and the severe blitz during the Second World War. The City is also home to Coventry and Warwick Universities where a large and noteworthy Muslim student population from overseas come to study.
The meeting was followed by a tour of the city, visit to the Coventry Transport Museum and a series of meetings with local Mosque and community organisations.
Arranging the visit, the Youth Committees West Midlands Representative Asif Takolia said `It is really important that we visit all cities in the UK to meet people locally and see firsthand the issues and needs confronting local communities'.
The Muslim Council of Britain is the UK's largest Muslim umbrella body with around 500 affiliated national, regional and local organisations, mosques, charities and schools.
