Kawsar represents MCB in China Friday 17 July 2009 |
Kawsar Zaman, the Vice-Chair of the MCB's Youth Committee was part of a 10 day UK delegation to China visiting Beijing and Jiangsu with the British Council between the 7-17th of July. The 'UK-China 400 An Exchange of Future Leaders' was a programme agreed by Gordon Brown with his Chinese counterpart Premier Wen Jibao at a meeting in Downing Street last year. The programme was an exchange of 100 Young Future Political and Business Leaders form the UK to China to promote and increasing learning and understanding between both countries. The All China Youth Federation hosted the delegation. Meetings and visits in China included: Jingjue Mosque, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People's Political Consultative Conference, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Committee of Communist Youth League of China, Central Party School, Chinese Young Entrepreneurs Association, New District of Haidian, the British Embassy in China and others. Returning from China Kawsar said "it was a great opportunity to learn and explore China, a country which will steer the next decade and beyond. There is also a large Muslim community in China and it's very important we work together on common issues and challenges and increasing our understanding". A report of the trip will follow.
