As many of the young Muslims who migrated to Britain in the 1960's and 70's now begin to age, it is vitally important that healthcare professionals have available the tools to develop a working understanding of the end of life care issues facing Muslims and those of other faith communities.

We are delighted to learn that Professors Abdul Rashid Gatrad and Aziz Sheikh of the Research & Documentation Committee of the MCB have been invited by a mainstream medical publishing house to edit a book on the Palliative Care Needs of Faith & Ethnic Minority Communities. This will be a multi-disciplinary work with input from academics and professionals representing the disciplines of epidemiology, public health, paediatrics, nursing and palliative care medicine, amongst others. God willing, the work will be published later this year.

This invitation follows from their recent book Caring for Muslim Patients and publications in the British Medical Journal and the International Journal of Palliative Care Nursing.
