Dear Editor
Today's story by Stephen Evans at the URL below does not adequately convey
why the MCB does not attend the memorial day.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4582736.stm
Ever since we were first consulted about HMD by the Home Office in 1999 we
have called for a 'Genocide Memorial Day'. This would be more inclusive and
send out a clear message that the lives of all people, regardless of race or
religion are to be equally valued. If HMD was renamed to Genocide Memorial
Day then we would be honoured to attend the event.
Yours sincerely
Inayat Bunglawala,
Secretary,
Media Committee,
The Muslim Council of Britain
