Nirpal Dhaliwal accuses me - incorrectly as it happens - of objecting to 'profiling people by their activities and travel records rather than their ethnicity alone' (Evening Standard, 16th August 2006).

On the contrary, the Muslim Council of Britain has always said that such actions by the police and authorities should be intelligence-led and not appearance-led.

I am not sure why Ms Dhaliwal would want to misrepresent the views of others, but a little more honesty on the part of your paper would not go amiss.
