Dear Sirs,

The attempt by Nick Cohen (Evening Standard, 31st Jan 2007) to smear the Muslim Council of Britain with the brush of fascism and the BNP is absurd and such claims illustrates the falsity of his entire argument.

Fascism is an ideology in whose name millions were murdered on the basis of their race or beliefs. The MCB on the contrary is utterly opposed to racism in any form as contrary to the principles of Islam. It calls upon all British Muslims to obey the law and to carry out all activity purely by peaceful and democratic means.

Nick Cohen by this baseless comparison not only slanders the MCB but prettifies the BNP and its fascist ideology. Cohen is forced to resort to invention simply because he cannot find any actual facts to support his argument.
