MCB Hails Huge March For Palestine - Criticises Press Coverage
The Muslim Council of Britain sent its congratulations to the organisers of Saturday's huge 50,000+ peaceful demonstration in support of the Palestinian people while criticising the low-key press coverage of the event.
"This was a tremendous sign of solidarity between the people of Britain and the besieged Palestinians. By its barbaric actions and its continual defiance of UN resolutions and most of the world opinion, Israel has isolated itself from the community of civilised nations. The Geneva based UN Commission on Human Rights has condemned the massacre and killings and calls for Israel to withdraw from the Occupied Territories. We are highly disappointed that the UK government did not support the passing of this resolution," said Mr Yousuf Bhailok, Secretary-General of the MCB.
"We are, however, very disappointed at the low level of press coverage that was given to this demonstration. Similar large-scale marches have now occurred in all the major capital cities in the West and they represent a very significant turning point. The media must report about them accurately," said Mr Bhailok.
The MCB once again urged the Government to push for EU sanctions against the rogue Israeli state. We have a duty to maintain and uphold justice irrespective of pressure from the pro-Israeli lobby.
