MCB Officer to visit Earthquake victims in India
Dr Jafer Qureshi, Public Relations Officer of the Health and Medical Committee
of The Muslim Council of Britain is leaving for Mumbai, India on 22nd February 2001 to assist the
victims of the Earthquake that struck India on 26th January 2001.
Dr Qureshi will lead a training programme designed by
‘Doctors for Global Relief’ a recently formed organisation in the UK, to help mental health and other
health care professionals in the management and rehabilitation of Psychological damage arising from the
most serious earthquake to strike India recently. He will be joined by a team of experts from University
of Missouri-Columbia, led by Prof. Arshad Hussein and they will be visiting the earthquake disaster zone
from 25th to 28th February 2001 to set up medical and psychiatric after care clinics

Professor of Surgery in Mumbai is co-ordinating relief efforts in India for ‘Doctors for Global Relief’
