URGENT REQUEST FROM THE MCB'S LEGAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
The Government is reviewing the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001
and has invited all concerned parties to submit their responses. Muslims have been disproportionately affected by this legislation:
through the discriminatory implementation of Section 44 powers of Stop
and Search;
the fact that all 17 Belmarsh detainees held without trial or
charge are Muslim;
the fact that every high profile arrest, the vast majority of which have turned out to be wrongful, were of Muslims.
It is of utmost importance that the views of the Muslim Community are
recognised. Please download this questionnaire and return it by 28 July 2004 to The Muslim Council of Britain.
