| Dear Sir/Madam,
In response to the above article - I would just like to say that many
people in Great Britain (atheists such as myself included) will also not forget
what their Government has done in their name. For the first time in my
life, I am ashamed of being British.
Yours faithfully

| Mr. Viv Clark |
| As a reader of the Times newspaper I was most interested in the article by Inayat Bunglawala and fully support the viewpoint express. I am an Englishman of the Christian faith but my conviction is that the present war arises simply from the Israeli lobby in the US Government and is purely in the interests of Israel....
Bush tries to make the point that Iraq presents a threat to the safety of the US. Having only missiles of a range of 150 kmts how can Iraq be a menace to the US. The only country possibly within range is of course Israel, the most heavily armed country in the Middle East and with a nuclear capability - supplied by the US ! As regards weapons of mass destruction, the US is the biggest producer of Anthrax and terrorist materials in the world . No one asks why the US has a stockpile of Anthrax capable of wiping out the whole of the World's population.
It was significant that when, on TV, we were shown a short clip of gas or chemical cylinders being destroyed after the Iraq war in 1991, the cylinders had labels on them written in English. If such weapons are discovered after the present war I hope we will be shown close-ups of the labels...
Please keep up the good work of exposing the real truth underlying the US aggression.
My interest in the Arab fraternity comes from having been at GHQ Middle East Forces, Cairo from May 1942 to August 1946. I enjoyed the friendship and way of life in Cairo very much. May Allah be with you.

Dear Mr. Bunglawala,
As an American, I find the images of death in Iraq
deeply troubling. But in spite of my misgivings about
what has been done in my name, I am confident that my
government does not aim at the deliberate destruction
of the Iraqi people. In the same way, I am sure that
you find your conscience as a Muslim troubled by the
terrible things done in the name of your faith, such
as the recent massacre of Hindu villagers by Islamic
militants. But this does not prevent you from knowing
that the majority of Muslims don't in fact desire the
destruction of all Hindus.
However, many people in the United States oppose the
war in Iraq and do not hesitate to say so -- long and
loudly. Where are the voices of the Muslims who
deplore the actions of their co-religionists in
Kashmir? I am sure there are many. Why do they not
take to the streets in protest when young children are
deliberately murdered in their name?
Non-Catholics know that most Catholics don't support
the actions of IRA, because the Pope explicitly
condemns and repudiates such actions. However, because
Islam has no such universally recognized spiritual
leader, Muslims do not have the specious luxury of
letting one man act as their conscience. (I mean no
disrespect to Catholicism; I merely point out a danger
inherent in such an arrangement.) Consequently, if
some Muslims protest against injustices only when they
are perpetrated against Muslims, but ignore or dismiss
them when perpetrated by Muslims, it is absolutely
vital that other Muslims of good conscience then stand
up to be heard.
This is indeed an extra burden. But it is not a burden
imposed by a non-Muslim society intent on victimizing
Muslims. It is a burden imposed by your faith.
Sincerely,

| Iraqis are not going to take their "liberation", or any new pax Americana, lying down - and nor are British Muslims going to forget what their Government did in their name.
I refer to your comments about British muslims are not going to forget what their government did in their name.
What exactly do you mean !!!

| Dear Sir,
I am really getting fed up with you muslims always
copmlaining, complaining complaining. You are not happy with
our government...you are not happy that we are trying to
help muslims in Iraq...you were not happy that we helped
muslims in Kosovo...you are against America our greatest
ally...You know that you could always go back to your own
homelands,in fact ...that sounds like a great idea to
me.Then you could fight your own battles, and have a country
full of other muslims who would love and respect each
other,a Muslim democracy....you can invite the Taliban to
live with you...does it not sound great...then for heavens
sake go...and give us peace.
On the other hand you could start
acting like citizens of our country,be British, back your
country, love your country,be grateful that you live here,my
grand-parents were immigrants to this country and I am the
proudest person on this earth now to be called British.
So,stop complaining ... and now start
being part of my country and be proud of it.
yours faithfully,
