| One of my colleagues heard the interview on Radio 4 re; the alleged
British Muslim involvement in a suicide attack in Israel. Can we just
caution against use of words like 'loony' or 'nutter' as these words
stigmatise mental health problems. The people you were referring people
would be better described as 'misguided' or Muslims with a 'wrong' or
'bigoted' interpretation of Islam, if thats what you mean, but they are
not mentally imbalanced and if you think they are, they should not be
labelled in the way they were.

| It is with more concern that this letter is written - the day to day conversation in this small town more and more seems to revolve around the growing threat from muslim 'asylum seekers' (economic migrants). A glance at the press will tell you that they are an increasing drain on the nation's resources while contributing nothing to the country's infrastructure. Indeed, recent news has seen that the muslim terror threat to this country has been proved to come from muslim 'asylum seekers' (risin poison threat in Manchester where a British policeman was killed)
More to the point, some terror has been seen to leave our shores in the form of muslim suicide bombers from Derbyshire and at least 1 other area in this country. The television has portrayed these people as 'Britons' (probably cared for by the UK welfare state) but can they REALLY be classed as Britons when headlines prove that they they probably hate this island as much as their intended target?
That can be backed up by the case of a leader of the Finsbury Park mosque Abu Hamsa who regularly prays for tragedy to befall all Westerners (while living on our handouts). It is with additional dismay that many of his followers are 'asylum seekers' - can you people really expect English people to welcome them with open arms? - I suggest not.
A curious outcome of the local elections recently is that while there is no major threat to OUR neighbourhood from these economic migrants from muslim countries, someone conducted a poll in the local newspaper and surprisingly discovered that had the BNP fielded a candidate here, he would have topped the poll with 35% (the others being Lib Dem 33%, Conservative 15%, Labour 15% and the others 2% !!)
Unless something is done, the next election could yield a few surprises!

| I don't know who wrote the e-mail on May 15th, but since when has the UK been their country? Do they own it? No doubt they supported the war against Saddam Hussain, which was supposedly a war against an intolerant regime, yet they espouse intolerance themselves. What hypocrisy.
This country belongs to all who live in it - it is just as much MINE as it is YOURS, May 15th writer, so take your arrogance elsewhere. Long may Muslims, Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, atheists, and anyone else be welcome in this country.

| I am not a Muslim (yet - but to my surprise I'm beginning to be drawn that way, having never been religious!) but I completely agree with you about the sorry state Iraq is in right now. And how the Americans could even consider putting Jay Garner there, with his history, is beyond me. As all sane people do, I wish the Iraqis the best possible future - if they get the wealth that's theirs they would even be in a position to help other Muslims not so fortunate, such as the poor suffering Palestinians, when they get to set up their own state. It's not only Muslims who hope for this; anyone who cares for human rights should want an end to this tragic and criminal situation as quick as possible. I despair at the lack of concern for these people. I hope they know it isn't just other Muslims who care about their plight. So much in the world is wasted when a little can sometimes do so much good that I wonder how each of us will be judged. Did we do all we could? We all would like to do more and it's frustrating to feel so helpless against these massive state machines and their power.
I wish you all the best in your work. I found out about you, incidentally, by reading a book called 'Teach yourself Islam' by Ruqaiyyah waris maqsood.
