Dear Brothers and Sisters
Assalamu Alaikum
Having read and supported the utter condemnation of the horrific loss of life in Istanbul by the MCB, I am horrified by the adjectives "Islamic" , "Islamist" etc being bandied around in front of words like such as "terror", "bombing", "violence" etc.
Even at the height of the IRA campaigns in the 1970s and 1980s I cannot recall the term "catholic" used with such association. The terms were ironically "Republican" and "Nationalist"
Is the MCB making any attempt through the PCC to uncouple this repeated heinous association with Islam?
The best of health to you
Assalamu Alaikum

You may "consistently condemn terrorism" I am sure you do. The trouble is that the general public don't often hear that you do. It would help non-Muslim British people if your public relations people made your voice louder.
I mean this most sincerely. And I believe it to be very important. Many of us get fearful when we hear muslims say that theirs is the "only" true religion, to the exclusion of all others. It would be good to hear that Islam can cohabit with other religions and with those of us who believe all religions are divisive.
Yours sincerely

salam-alaikum,
it's all well and good to blame bush on the terrorist
bombings but what do you expect from the enemies of
islam, that they will live us in peace. they have
always since the time of the prophet SAW tried to
subjugate the muslims. it is upon the muslims to
defeat the terrorist by holding onto the rope of
Allaah, which is nothing but the quran and sunnah with
the understanding of the companions. Why is it that
none of the ulama in britain refute the concept of
suicide bombings, that even if you have been violated
that does not mean you go and violate others who have
nothing to do with anything. this is haraam. where are
the ulama writing, talking about these issues. those
people who got killed in turkey what did they do
wrong, to suggest that it is bush's fault is
ridiculous. he didn't drive the car in istanbul or
riyadh. Not once have i heard bin laden being
reprimanded in the masjids here, its just bush and
blair. but like i said earlier what do you expect from
the disbelievers. It's tragic that so called muslims
are killing muslims in these attacks. so now we have
the kafir killing us on one side and the muslim on the
other side. Verily it is to Allah that i complain
about my grief.
walaykum-salaam
ps pls fwd this to mr sacranie.

Further to my earlier e-mail I wanted to say how refreshing it is to hear Turkey condemning the terrorism. Their Prime Minister is a very brave man to speak as he does.
I am not happy about Blair and Bush in Iraq. I am not happy about a lot of world policy. I am very much against the continuing support of Israel by the US. I have great sympathy with the masses of young people in the Middle East who feel themselves left behind. I would prefer to see a strong United Nations, based in Switzerland and empowered to intervene where people are ill treated and exterminated, such as with Saddam and Mugabe.
However, we are faced with a terrible threat where groups of disaffected people are commiting terrible deads in the name of Islam. Islam itself has somewhat dubious connotations, particularly with regard to the treatment of women. But what do I know? Nobody seems to want to let me know.
You should stand up and condemn these acts of violence and tell your young people that they should not go to Iraq to fight americans and english soldiers. If you do not stand up and speak out against Islamic Fundamentalism, you lay yourselves open to accusations of sympathy. So how about it?
Yours sincerely
