Assalam Alaikum,

I too, as a Muslim, would like to express by disgust at the recent article by Kilroy-Silk. However, I am even more disgusted at the Daily Express for allowing such a bigoted, racist and inflammatory article to be published. It now appears that sections of the printed media will stop at nothing to descend to the lowest levels of the gutter in order to grab headlines and make money.

Like many non-Muslims I found Kilroy's remarks offensive. People with these attitudes must be confronted head on. Other contributors have raised the possibility of letter-writing campaigns/petititions. Perhaps the time has come for more enlightened and moderate people to be more organised about expressing their opposition. The web is an ideal tool for this - perhaps we need a site where behaviour like Kilroy's can be brought to wider attention, and people can sign up to petitions, or become more active in opposing discrimination. There are a number of useful tools already out there - for example I would urge people to consider contacting their MP using a free service that you can find here - http://www.faxyourmp.com/

I suppose something positive might come out of the Kilroy outburst - the ignorant fool might be removed from our TV screens completely!

Sincerely,

I read the BBC News article on what Mr Kilroy Silk had to say – and I was utterly disgusted. His views are offensive in the extreme – even to people like me who are not Arab, or of the Muslim faith. If he had an ounce of honour, he would apologise for the offence he has caused, and resign from his position. He should have been aware that his views would be reported as widely as they have. If he does hold the views he expressed, he should have kept them to himself. Did he seriously think that people would ignore his disgusting and offensive statements? Mr Kilroy Silk should now be treated with the contempt he so richly deserves for doing/saying what he did! The BBC should treat him in the same way they treat any of their staff who make such offensive and racist views public. Sack him at once, I say!!

I happen to agree strongly with Robert Kilroy-Silk, Muslims in this country should be aware that they are treated with a good deal more consideration than Christians are treated in Arab countries. Of course people like Abu Hamza can say pretty much whatever they like and organisations like the BBC or the MCB don't seem the least bit concerned.

We still have a tradition of free speech in this country, or are only people with left wing views allowed a voice.........?

Hi.
I just wanted to add my voice to the clamour of protest against Kilroy Silk's recent comments in the Sunday Express. I don't expect great political insight or journalistic wit from such 'celebrity' columns, but even Express readers might expect better than RKS's feeble-minded racism.
I understand that, in the wake of the Hutton enquiry, the BBC now takes a great interest in the extra-curricular activities of its employees. I can think of few actions more harmful to the (generally) good name of the corporation than this blatant and very public islamophobic rant.

Unless, that is, they bring back his hurridly-axed quiz show, "Shafted", in which contestants were invited to choose whether to 'share' or 'shaft' their opponent. I know which option I would choose for that crinkly silver fox.
