Dear MCB,
Me too! Not only was it racist and inflammatory but also historically as far as middle eastern influence on art, literature, mathematics, science, astronomy, etc. etc. etc., completely inaccurate too.
Yours faithfully,
Producer France 2 London

It seems to me you are overreacting to a trivial statement. I have never really given it much thought as to your Religious ways except to get annoyed watching the odd interview on television where you can see the wrench between your religion and the Country you have adopted. For the most part your religion seems to comes first. Very dangerous and a breeding ground for fanatics. Get a life and lighten up.

Assalamu alaikum/Peace
I am glad Kilroy is off the air, and this should be a lesson to others that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated by the community. It is encouraging to read the e-mails of support you have been getting, and I am glad people have spoken up. I hope in future more is done to protect the Muslim community from these sort of attacks. I am encouraged by the BBC and your work. I hope Muslims continue to work with the wider community to show the peace that is Islam. I wish you all the best with your work to help the Muslim community.

simply cannot believe how unspeakably arrogant you are being on this issue. I frequently read comments made by other people that I find personally offensive, whether it be to do with race/nationality/sex/class/personal experiences, and which I fully admit upset me, but I take this as the price we pay for living in a free world (and it's a very small price on the whole, when you consider the alternative!). I do not understand why you are carrying out a witch-hunt against a man for voicing his own opinion, however misguided you personally may feel it is. In this country I do not see why we have to answer to the Muslim Council. What do you want us to do? Pass everything by you before we have it published????
I am VERY angry about this whole thing, and have written to my MP about it. I am not a Muslim, I am not of ANY organised religion, perhaps that is why I believe in tolerance?! Apparently you say that you fear a backlash against Arabs because of Kilroy-Silk's comments. Can you not see that if you continue with this high-handed attitude you will only fan the flames even further? If you had simply ignored this piece it would have gone unnoticed by the vast majority of the country! Now we have t.v programmes being taken off the air because of your attitude! Can you not see that you are perpetuating the very Nazi-like attitude that most people fear?
One of Kilroy-Silk's comments apparently was that he regarded Arabs as "repressors of women". Can you seriously, hand on heart, tell me that that is not the case? As a lifelong feminist I personally find your attitude of making women wear headscarves EXTREMELY offensive! And that is trivial compared to some of the darker issues carried out in Islamic states, many involving murder.
Don't try sending me any threatening e-mails back. I was bought up to strongly believe in free speech in this country, and as I am self-employed, with customers all over the world, you will have your work cut out trying to get me chucked out of work!!!! Sarah Hapgood.

Dear MCB
As a white British Citizen, I would like to make clear my disgust at Robert Kilroy-Silk's comments in the Sunday Express.
It would not be right for the Sunday Express to call me part of the 'PC brigade' (although they would probably try), but Kilroy-Silk's comments are clearly a written attack on all Arabs - whether he meant it to read as such or not.
I can only hope that the vast majority of Arabs and Muslims in a wider context to not see these as being the views of a majority of white British citizens - they certainly do not reflect my views or all of the people (from a wide cross section of society), that I have spoken to.
I would certainly be absolutely ashamed if the BBC were to allow him to continue with his program in the future.
Kind regards.

sirs, I have enclosed the text of a letter which i have just sent to the Daily Express. I would also like to take this opportunity to apologise on behalf of all Britains for the fact that our population is increasingly anti Arab and Islamophobic. These views are based on an absolute ignorance and poor to little education and may even be deemed as racist. It is a tragedy that my countrymen are so ignorant of the history of civilisation as to dismiss the Arab and Islamic contributions to the advancement of mankind.
One needs only a little knowledge to know that all modern science and arts owe their origins to the Islamic preservation and advancement during the European Dark and Middle Ages. That is not to say that the current contribution is any less, as it is clearly not, however much we in the west may choose to ignore it.
sincerely
christopher carruthers

sirs, I would like to say that I was deeply shocked by your papers republication of the infamous Kilroy Silk article, however I was not surprised as you pander to a largely ignorant and uneducated readership. You seem to have forgotten along with the rest of the proletariat that Europe suffered the Dark Ages whilst the Arab world preserved and refined most of what mankind's knowledge amounted to. Islam as a religion is also the only phiosophy to require education as part of its doctirine.
I shall not bother naming specifics but only suggest that you recommend to yourselves and your readers a short course in the history of civilisation and perhaps a visit to any reputable museum.
your in disgust
