To whom it may concern,
I cannot express how much appreciation I feel toward your recent efforts. I am an American. I just watched a broadcast of the BBC world news describing the efforts of the Muslim Council of Britain to end terrorism. My hope is that everyone in the world will work together to end terrorism. Your recent efforts are reassuring and help thawrt the common American misconception of Islam as a violent religion. Islam and the Koran preach compassion. Compassion of life is tantamount. Please keep up your efforts and pass on these same efforts to all of America.

| Dear Sir,
I am a non-Muslim but I would just like to express my respect for the way
your council is acting in what must be a very difficult time for the Muslim
community. Hopefully the distrust on both sides will eventually disappear
and the way in which The Muslim Council of Britain has acted, I think, is
an excellent example to us all.
Respectfully,

I saw a report mentioning you're sending letters urging care and security to all your religious leaders.
Thank you for taking this step.
I'm aware that bias and misunderstanding exist throughout the world - anything you can do to forge greater compassion, acceptance and wisdom amongst all religious leaders and all people within the UK will be valuable to our shared society.
Religious tolerance, respect and understanding are vital to us all.

| Dear Sir,
As a non Muslim I welcome your letter to the Mosques in Britain about terrorism.
I have always believed that no matter the persons colour, philosophy or religious beliefs, if he would defend this country he is my brother.
Their is a lot of wrong in the world, persecution which can be put down to differences of religion, but all religions are based on love and peace.
Lets hope that one day all peoples no matter how they worship or under what name they call God/Allah/Great Spirit can do so in their own way as brothers

| While all Muslims of course condemn terrorism in all
its form we should not forget the role of the media in shaping peoples
perceptions. The constant and inaccurate references to \'Islamic\' or
\'Muslim\' terrorists risks demonising and alienating the Muslim ummah
(community) worldwide as a whole. Terrorist acts are contrary to the word
of Allah (swt) and the Sunnah of his Messenger (peace and blessings be
upon him) and as such no act of terrorism is \'Islamic\' and no terrorist
is a Muslim. The MCB should spend more of its time trying to change the
media’s prejudiced portrayal of Muslims and Islam rather the patronising
the Muslim community of this country which is claims to but does not
represent.

| I would like to say well done to the Muslim Council for asking all law
abiding Muslims in Britain to safeguard our Country from a terrorist
threat.
All Muslims in this Country are welcome residents and it is comforting to
me
'a non-Muslim' to see that we are all equal partners and united against
terrorism. I respect all faiths and their beliefs and understand that Islam
is a beautiful and peaceful religion and understand that this is a very
small minority who spoil it for all. I do not for one moment believe that
people who use this faith in the name of terrorism will prevail.
Many thanks,
|

It would appear that the recent bomb raids and subsequent arrests may provoke a backlash from British Muslims. Why? Perhaps Muslim community leaders might like to consider the probability that the raids were carried out on Islamic households, rather than those of other religious faiths, because of the simple fact that it is not members of other religions who comprise the membership of Al-Qaeda! It was not Christians who flew a couple of planes into the Twin Towers, it was not practitioners of Buddhism who aimed another plane at the Pentagon, and it was not a group of Hindus who set the bombs off in Madrid! The people who committed these atrocities are/were members of the Islamic faith. So, if the Muslim Council of Great Britain doesn't want a backlash, either from Muslims or non-Muslims, perhaps it could be a little more tolerant of the actions of the police, and a little more forthcoming in condemning some of its members' actions. I'm not con doning religious intolerance, but it is hardly surprising that some members of our society may be a little peeved and angry - after all, 99% of the population rather like living and don't want to be blown up!
