Dear Sir
I was both heartened and saddened to read
some of the letters you had received......
Please do not be discouraged by some of
the narrow minded, disgraceful messages
you have received - as you can see, ALL
communities have their fanatical fringes,
and I apologise for some of the shameful
abuse you have been subjected to.......
We have a history of genuine causes being
hi-jacked by fanatics, people who bastardise
the truth, and abuse the very things they claim
to care about (I am of Irish descent, and am
thinking about our own situation as I write this......)
There maybe things which we don't agree with,
but that can NEVER be a justification for the
indiscriminate taking of lives
I appreciate there is a root cause which has
a valid principle, but please remember, the
majority of the non muslim british public did
not agree with the war either. Some of the
root causes I believe many people would
support, but the only way to gain that support
is to communicate, educate, help people outside
the community understand - terrorism is a sub-human
indiscriminate cowardly action which will damn
the cause forever. Terrorists will feed their
selfish egotistical whims at the expense of the
very people they claim to be helping, making
the only true victims in this scenario pariah's
in the eyes of the world.
The majority of Muslim people are a peaceable,
logical community, and you are displaying this
to the world by distancing yourselves from the
pathological fringes who insult your religion -
We need people to understand the enemy is the
terrorist, the fanatic, which is NOT synonamous
with "muslim", and I really feel the steps you took
with your statement have gone a long way to
clearly differentiate the two. It also gives non
muslims ammunition to fight the narrow
minded elements amongst our own communities,
and I hope this receives the full media coverage
it deserves.
Your brave statement made me very proud of
our Muslim community, and no matter how much
irational "hate mail" you receive, please remember,
as with your own fanatical fringes, they ARE the
minority, and the majority of people are 110%
behind you.
With much repect,

Dear Sirs
Asalaam Ailikum
As a Muslim I would like to congratulate the move by the MCB of actually
trying to take some actions against the rouge Islamic leaders in the UK
who are intent on spreading hatred.
I would like to add is that this a move that was long overdue, the MCB
sees itself as a representative of UK Muslims and it as a rule should tried too
have done this before last week, but as they say "better late then never".
What I as a Muslim would like to add is that, the wrong area is being
targeted I feel that there is a need for legtimate ISlam in the UK
colleges and Universities as they are breeding grounds for fanatacism. I have
experienced meetings where the speakers are telling fellow students that
they should go on jihad, I mean do these people even know the true meaning
of jihad.
I do not know how this is to be tackled but a network has too be built
through schools, universities, youth centres that persude the youth to
stick
to legitimate Islam not the "blowing up varity that is propergated in a a
lot of areas of our society".
If the boys do not come via university they are ex substance abuser who
brainwashed into thinking that if they go and take part in such extreme
activities they obtain a place in heaven.
This is a serious issue that is affecting the muslim community in Britain
and we need support from the upholders of our religon in this country.
I hope this area will be looked into and as the American citizens who had
placards "not in my name" I do not want trains blown up in my name (Muslim
Ummas) name either.
Kind Regards

Unfortunately every culture has a small minority of idiots, who by their actions seem to taint their kinfolk. For example any normal, sane white British person will feel shame and abhorrence when the bnp or the far right are in the media. Speaking as a British Muslim, I feel exactly the same when I see these terrorists on the news, threatening my life and the life of my countrymen, in the name of my religion (I think the white folk got the better deal, would rather be linked to the crappy bnp then those nutters Al Qaeda). Even with the recent elections where members of the bnp got elected, I still know and believe that the far right makes up an extremely small proportion of the white British public and that not every white person I meet likes to dress like Adolph over the weekend!! I hope that people realise that these terrorist make up an extremely small percentage of the British Muslim community and if we wanted to live in a Muslim state, we’d move to one (it’s far less bother then having to convert a nation of Christians, plus we’d miss eastenders). I’m just as wary as the next person who gets on the underground. I hope that even with the recent events and frightening news headlines, people will know that this is only a small minority of Muslims, who, if the truth be known, don’t even practice the religion properly (killing people is not allowed, for those who didn’t know). MCB keep up the good work we need to be proactive rather then reactive.

Dear brothers at the MCB,
I pray that this email reaches you whilst you are in a firm state of Iman, and may Allah SWT guides to the right path.
I wish to make reference and comments to the letter of your General Secretary, Brother Iqbal Sacranie, which had been distributed to the Imams of the Masjids in the UK.
The letter states the following
That the "last few weeks and days have been fraught with tragedies and dangers. I am sure you are fully aware of the concerns of the Prime Minister and the Police Authorities"
Does not the MCB consider the last few years, decades even as tragedies. Without a doubt the events of Madrid are prohibited by Islam. But what does Allah SWT say about the killing of Muslim blood? This is something which has been given the highest sanctity in Islam. The Prophet SAW Said "the blood of the believer is more valuable to me than the Ka'ba and its surroundings"
Your letter continues, " I am sure you are already discharging your Islaimc duty in helping preserve the peace of the nation and protecting the community from falling into trap or provocation"
Exactly how is the peace of the nation preserved and how is the Muslim community protected from falling into trap and provocation? The nation, any nation, as stated in numerous evidences from the Quran and Sunnah can never be under peace without the Islamic system of ruling. And protecting the Muslim communities from traps? Surely the duty upon EVERY muslim, not just imams, is to propogate and infuse the Muslims' minds with the correct and pure Islamic culture, and at the same time identify with the Muslims exactly where the corruption and disasters exists for the Muslims. And that is the corrupt Western values and political systems that exist in Britain, which are marketed to the Islamic World. It follows from here that whosoever encourages to adopt these corrupt Western Values and the integration within such, are indeed themselves party to the provocation and the entrapping of the Muslim communities. The Islamic duty is thus CLEAR, that Muslims must engage in intelligent discourse and demonstrate that Islam as an Ideology and political system is a clear and comprehensive to the corrupt capitalist ideology in the West, rather than encouraging the Imams and other 'community leaders' to play a part in the compromising stance of trying to build intellectual and cultural bridges with two ENTIRELY conflicting ways of life. The MCB has obviously not understood itself the role and duty of the Muslim itself, and indeed its own role in Muslim life in Britain.
With reference to the following point in the letter "....some, however, continue to associate Islam with terrorism...."
Surely your better effort would have been to actually identify those who are responsible for making such an association. The party responsible are clear. The Western governments have attempted to identify certain 'fringe' elements as terrorists, not because they have been responsible for such actions, but rather they have engaged in certain intellectual and political debate with the West about various policies, domestic or foreign. Certain muslim factions and 'leaders' have adopted the same view. Which is, that any elements that are seen to rock the boat and question the staus quo, inviting the Muslims to such debate, are actually terrorists themselves. So Muslims who call for the outright rejection of the Western Capitalist Values and Western way of life, those who refuse to integrate into the British society are regarded as religious extremists who harbour religious hatred and encourage terrorism. This is the view the Western Governments have. Indeed, this is the view that the MCB alludes to having themselves having read the letter.
As far as the verse of the Quran which was quoted in the letter "He who killed a person, UNLESS it be a person guilty of manslaughter or spreading chaos in the land.........." Does the MCB consider the actions of the Western Governments as being Noble efforts? Or have the various Governemnts in the West been responsible of spreading that Chaos. Remembering that the idea of chaos and peace and not as defined by the Minds of the Western politicians but rather defined by Allah SWT.
The end of result of this letter that you distributed serves no other than the British agenda, which is to integrate the Muslims into the Western society. This agenda could obviously not be fulfilled through intellectual and political discussion to convince the Muslims, young or old, about the value of integration. Now we see the British Government adopting a new strategy of enforcing their agenda through policy change. Your letter seems to be nothing short ofg encouraging and supporting that stance.
The British Government is, through its various styles and routes, encouraging the Muslims to create state of fear amongst their own brothers. What is unfortunate is that MCB has, through this letter, played party to this incitement against the Muslims by encouraging the Imams and 'community leaders' to spy and silence and voice or opinion which opposes the prevailing attitudes and agendas within the British political circles.
The correct way forward, is to encourage debate between the Imams and community leaders and their communities at large. The correct way forward is engage the Muslims in the correct agenda and discussion. The correct agenda is not to integrate and lose all sight of the Islamic values, but to proliferate the correct Islamic views, political or otherwise, so that the Muslims can demonstrate the superiority of Islam over ALL other ways of life. And at the same time have the correct thoughts and sentiments that will keep them steadfast against all adversity.
That is what you should be enscouraging, not what your letter actually does. You duty as an Islamic organisation is to remain true to your covenant with Allah SWT and propogate the truth, and not the corrupt agenda of the british or its disastrous intellectual ideas or its devious political plans. This spying that you encouraged in the letter does nothing but to encourage the already existant fear that exists amongst the Muslims about expressing the true belief and way of life.
I pray that you take advice from this letter and would hope that with the greatest sincerity your position changes on the subject of the role of Muslims in Britain. The Muslims in the West are confused enough, without further misguidance being delivered during the Friday sermons. I have only commented on the first few paragraphs of your letter, but in fact the whole letter is fraught with similar dangers and disasters

Dear Sir,
I think the recent steps made by MCB towards promoting a clear message
against radical elements is going the right way but much more needs to be
done. In particular, MCB and other Muslim organisations seem to lack
marketing and communications expertise and I would be happy to advise on
this. The following would be very useful to address UK public opinion:
1. That Muslims are at the front against terrorism should be mentioned
frequently. I am, for example, the lead ( and committed at that) against
bioterrorism at my NHS Trust.
2. The view that terrorists claiming to be Muslim are no longer so since
they have effectively declared war on the religion as it really is should
be clearly expressed.
3. Whilst some who are terrorists may have been born Muslim, this group of
people are like a cancer in the world body of Islam. Cancers arise in
normal tissue but then become autonomous and destructive- do we blame the
body for the cancer within? To fight this cancer requires significant
effort on the part of MCB and world Islam.
Regards,
