I am saddened that so called ‘Britons’ are sending you hate mail and I apologise to you. I am not religious in any way but I supposed I am tagged as being Christian.
I have no grievance or hatred toward Muslims, Christians, Jews etc. This is a free world and we should learn to live with each other whatever our beliefs. Of my closest friends, one is Jewish and the other is a Hindu.
I don’t see the colour of their skin or the religion on which they base their lives. They are friends, plain and simple.
Good health to you and all of your community.

I saw your representative on BBC News 24 this afternoon, and I wish to record my agreement with him and your organisation in cautioning everyone against 'jumping to conclusions' when apportioning blame to Moslems for the World Trade Centre outrage.

However, I was disappointed to hear that you have been receiving scurrulous e-mails from Far-Right organisations.

As a fellow British subject and citizen of Birmingham, I reaffirm my support to you my fellow citizens in fighting the vermin of the National Front. I acknowledge that their bile is unpleasant, but please be assured that such people won't win.

My mother (R.I.P) often recounted tales of what it was like to be an Irish person in Birmingham during the bombings of November 1974, so I know the dangers Moslems face and hope that history does not repeat itself.

As a white, English male studying in Canada I want to express my distaste for the hate mail that you have received. I hope that people will avoid leaping to conclusions. Violence begets only violence and rash accusations simply inflame the situation. Regardless of who the perpetrators turn out to be no nation, group or religion should be condemned because of the actions of a few maniacs.

Peace, in these difficult times.

Today I heard from a British friend that British Muslims are being threatened for their appearance and beliefs. I heard that they are getting hate mail. So, I am sending a small message that is not hateful in hopes of counteracting the hatred.

I went to work yesterday, in an American company that has a considerable number of Muslim employees. They were all aghast at the tragedy. We wept together.

Although I have little doubt that a group who claims to be following the only true version of Islam will be found to be responsible, those people have warped the words of the Koran to fit their own twisted view of the world and to justify actions that have no foundation in Islam or in a civilized society.
