I heard yesterday of the hate mail you have received via the internet. I write now to thank you for your press statement . It is all too easy for the forces of ignorance and hate to gather against people of faith when those who believe in the sanctity of life remain silent. Terror can silence people . I am about to write an article - about the internet- for our church mag and will use part of your p.r. and recommend your web pages. It may only be a whisper for peace but its all I can do and even a whisper is better than silence. Peace be with you and yours.

The West is not interested in fighting Muslims, they are interested in fighting terrorism. Two very different things...why do Muslims people see an attack on terrorists as an attack on all Muslims??

What happened last Tuesday has nothing to do with religion. I can't understand how religion got into this whole argument anyway! The terrorists do not represent Islam, and no one should hate anyone other than the murders

behind the attrocities. Being an aethiest (but holding the greatest respect for all faiths) I am sick and tired of people using religion as a pretense to kill eachother off. This has been going on since the beginning of time, and isn't it time to get civilised.

Remember what the Christians did during the crusades? The Middle East homes some of the richest countries in the world (where do you think the oil comes from), instead many governments choose to enlsave their people and keep them ignorant instead of modernising their country, tolerating people and working with the world around them.

Isn't there enough hate in this world? Muslims are our friends, and especially now, the world needs to come together to fight these mass murderers.

After reading and watching about racist attacks occurring in the UK, I just wanted to let you know that not all white Britons feel the same. I'm sure you agree that what happened in the US was appalling, but just as the IRA do not stand for the Irish people and the Tamil Tigers do not stand for the people of Sri Lanka, it isn't right to take revenge on citizens leading their lives peaceably.

I have seen many members of the Islamic community in Britain condemn the attacks and have stipulated that the terrorists who did this do not stand for the people of Islam. I know this is true, and many others also know this is true.

I'm Roman Catholic and of Irish descent, and get gibes about the IRA like I know them! People's ignorance is the biggest problem, and trying to educate people is extremely difficult, particularly when they've been brought up to believe something completely different. Revenge is wrong, and I do understand the anger that people feel. If they could concentrate their anger somewhere where it is needed rather than attacking innocents, we'd be off to a good start in sorting this planet out! Terrorism in every country has to be eradicated so that the rest of us can get on with our lives.

I sincerely hope that these attacks can be halted quickly and I hope that everyone who lives in the UK can work together to get through these troubled times.

Thanks for taking the time to read this - I just thought it was about time a small voice was heard.

The extremists groups like Al-Muhajiroun and idiots like Bakri and Abu Hamza are taking the media limelight and presenting all Muslims as fanatics - what is the MCB doing about this? Why dont I ever see your representatives on Newsnight etc - I do not want to see these non-british Muslims claiming to be the voice of the mainstream.

They are whipping hatred and vengeance against the community - why isn't the MCB taking a more pro active stance in letting non-Muslims know we are not all raving nutters.
