Bis m'illah ar rahman ar raheem.
Although I am a Christian I had the privilege of working in Saudi Arabia for 18 months. I met many nice people there whom I hope I am able to call "friend". I also learned a lot about Islam and for which I came to have a lot of respect. I am so saddened by the events in New York and the effect this will have on Westerners perception of Islam and Muslims.

This is already evident in the assumption that Osama bin Laden is responsible. This, of course, may be true. I rather think Saddam Hussein is more likely the perpetrator. But this, too, is focusing on the Muslims. I am inclined to believe that the anti-Globilization faction is EQUALLY or MORE likely, not least because of the financial nature of the targets.

I have been privileged to read, and still have a copy on my bookshelf, of the Qur'an. Nowhere in the Qur'an or the Bible can I find any interpretation where God (or Mohammed pbuh) would sanction the actions of the terrorists yesterday.

I pray to God that the damage that those actions might inflict on the religion of Islam is small and soon repaired. I will also pray that, by some unfathomable means, some good will come from the nightmare and that Christian, Muslim and Jew can live together in mutual respect and understanding. May the Palestinians be given back their homeland and live together in harmony with Jews. All this seems too much to hope for but nothing is too difficult for God and with our prayers I hope this will come to pass.

Just listening to Mr. Bangawala (sp?) on Sky. I agree totally with what he is saying.

I am an Irish Catholic, and I grieve at the terrible loss suffered in the United States. I am angry with those who perpetrated this terrible crime. However, I understand that it was /not/ done in your name, or the name of Muslims as a whole. Even if a Muslum organisation takes responsibility, they still would not represent the vast majority of the Muslim people\'s worldwide.

We all understand that these sorts of actions are undertaken by a tiny minority of mentally defective fools, not by normal, family-loving and faithful members of ANY faith. As an Irish citizen, I am very aware of the effects that a tiny minority can have on the image of a whole group/religion/country.

I know that Islam, in common with every other religion on the planet, preaches peace.
No true follower of any religion can use their religion as an excuse for violence, while still being faithful to that religion.
These are my own personal opinions. I hope I have not, even inadvertantly, caused offence. I just wanted to let you know that not everyone views you as being the same people that caused this terrible event.

I've been hearing reports that the MCB has been receiving an amount of hate e-mail following yesterday's atrocity in the U.S.

I'm just writing to let you know that, this sickens me, and to let you know that not everyone jumps to conclusions or attempts to lump people together by race or religion. My thoughts are not only with the innocent victims in the U.S, but also any innocent victims of any 'backlash'.
Hang on in there.
