>Firstly, I don't hate foreigners, I just hate bad attitudes. Oldham (and
towns like it) are unfortunately in for perpetual unrest. Many Asians do
not
want to mix. Sadly, most Asians don't even see themselves as English !
(remember England v Pakistan [cricket]? - what a god-awful sight !). Blacks
mix quite well, why can’t you lot ? Have you got delusions of grandeur ? .
"Multi-racial" societies may be viable but "Multi-cultural" ones are an
impossible liberal- experiment too far. By definition, different cultures
have cultural differences. These differences tend to smother any attempt at
bridge-building. Universally, friendships are built upon commonality and
shared interests . Why should English schools teach of Islam for example ?
The "When in Rome" attitude should prevail and Asians should be given no
choice other than to mix with English in Christian-only schools. This may
hurt present generations, but is ultimately the only solution. Why is
England having its culture and national identity stifled ? Why is England
the only country in the world that deems the display of its flag a
rascist's
act ? If you come as an immigrant to England and take English (state)
benefits etc, what else can you expect, other than to be required to live
as
an Englishman ? In the 'Gulf war', Allied troops were “disarmed” of the
word
of Jesus (their holy Bibles) when entering Saudi on the way to liberating
Kuwait. The Saudis had no problem asserting themselves, their culture is no
doubt safe ! Selective behaviour i.e. "Englishness-as-and-when-it-suits-us"
galls many millions of intelligent, correct-thinking English people. I
would
not expect to go to Pakistan and demand a Church and state benefits; we're
just too soft and accommodating. In a multi-cultural hotch-potch, what hope
is there for sound friendships to be built ? The points raised above should
be addressed publically. Other 'oh-so-pc' efforts will probably fall on
stony ground. It's a shame, but I think that I am certain to be proved
correct. The OldhamIR is a very well-meaning but ultimately, fatally flawed
initiative.
