Your condemnations to date of terrorist actions are most welcome to people of all religions. Could not the Islamic leaders of the world use their combined influence on the Taleban regime to not only persuade Bin Laden to stand before an International court but also to moderate the actions of their regime to be more like the true path of Islam? As things stand no one in their right mind would want to live under Taleban rule. I am concerned that your call for British Muslims to protest against action against Afghanistan will not go down well with most people, it opens the door for various interpretations.

Greetings and good wishes.

As a non-Muslim UK citizen who warmly welcomed the assurances of respect and friendship which have properly been communicated by our national leaders to the Muslim community of this country, I wish to express my profound disappointment at your statement comndemning the legitimate military action undertaken by this country and the USA in recent days. Your statement of 9th October is ill-judged, intemperate and irresponsible, and does disservice to the interests of the community of Muslim citizens in the UK, the interests of the community of UK citizens and the interests of the community of world citizens. Please reconsider your responsibilities. The national community rightly defended you against the unjust and deplorable criticism of Mrs Thatcher. You are now exposing yourselves to the rather more justified reproaches of those who consider themselves your friends.

May you enjoy security and peace,

Advocating Protests - Have this council considered the implications of such an act? The UK government has been exceptionally supportive of Muslims since September 11th. Doing a lot more than some people wanted them to.... This support has been repaid, by stabbing the government in the back? UK Muslims will now be even more marginalized; I see no future for such thinking in our society.

To whom it may concern: I would like to see the Muslim community supporting the Prime Minister and denouncing the recent propaganda from the Taliban. I believe Margaret Thatcher is right in that there are not enough Muslims publicly correcting the Taliban on the true teachings of Islam. Muslims need to hear it from other Muslims about the true nature of this conflict and to reassure other Muslims that this is not a religious war. It isn't enough that the Prime Minister has to repeat himself to fight the disinformation. He needs your support and the support of other organisations like yours. War is not ideal but you must realise that something has to be done. We can not continue to talk about ending terrorism. And casualties of war are unfortunate but I believe the Pakistani people have a brighter future now that the war has begun. There is hope that their country will be theirs again and that they will have the support to quickly heal the wounds of so many years of fighting. Please support your government and speak loudly to all of us about the true teachings of Islam and against the propaganda of the Taliban. I fear as the Taliban are speaking the loudest, Muslims all over the world will start to believe them: that this is a war against Muslims, that America is God's enemy, and that Muslims have the obligation to kill all those who support the U.S.A. I also believe you could prevent harassment by continually speaking against the propaganda of the Taliban and disassociating yourselves with their teachings. If you do not say otherwise, it is almost like you agreed, and I am sure this is not the case.

Hello, I listened to the news last night with utter disbelief, at coverage of a press releas from the MCB condemming the retalitory storkes in the Taliban terrorists in Afganistan. I have a few points to make, whcih I woudl be gratefull if you woudl share with your web viewers on your letter page: 1. As the MCB is fully aware, the current U.S. and British strikes are against Taliban Terrorists, and not for the reason that they CLAIM to be Muslim. 2. Where is the MCB coverage of the huge humanitarian effort currently underway to assist the Afgan people? 3. At a time when many Muslims are appealing to the goverment for protection in relation to Sept. 11 attrocities, is it not grossly irresponsible to be seen to be on the side of the Terrorists in condeming the civiclised worlds coalition stikes against terrorists 4. Could the MCB explain once and for all for the benefit of the British public where it's members primary loyalty lies - with the Leader of the Muslim faith in a far off land, or the head of the goverment in a country whcih they currently enjoy a free and democratic existince? Finally, I would like to say that, altough I am not a racist, my feelings towards Muslims could be slowly changed if members of the MCB and others continue thier critisism of the Allies action against terrorists around the world. As President Bush and Prime Minister Blair have repeated again and again - this is not a war against Muslims, but against Terror and Terrorists claiming to be acting under the guise of Islam. Does the MCB really want to be associated with these kind of people? If it does, then continued critisism of our countruies leaders from MBC UK citizens should achieve just that goal.
