To whom concerned.
I am considerably worried that the UK media continues
to churn out news reports and other
documentary/current affairs programs that whip up
misunderstanding against the Muslim community
worldwide and in the UK.
The average nonMuslim UK citizen has almost zero
understanding of Islam and the wider Islamic world.
The dangerous equation is being made that Islam =
terrorism.
Heaven forbid that those who call themselves 'Muslim'
should launch any attack in the UK. I fear that it
would tear our society apart and set the nonMuslim
community againg decent Muslims in our country.
The way that the media is stirring up senseless
hatred(esp. the tabloids) is causing me much distress.
It reminds me of the blind propaganda that the Nazis
pumped out against Jews in Europe. We had the
situation then that our people were attacked in the
streets, our women abused, bearded Jews attacked by
Nazi mobs and forced to shave, worse still, innocent
people killed and our synagogues burned down, and
finally we were sent to the death camps of Auschwitz
and others in Eastern Europe.
I feel strongly for our Muslim brothers when I hear of
the attacks they have suffered, from ignorant
individuals and of mosques being firebombed.
Insh'Allah may we all receive Heaven's blessing and
protection. However, should the worst happen, I will
not stand by and tolerate any of my Muslim brothers
being abused. We come from the same family with
Abraham Abinu as our joint ancestor. We both believe
in Allah
and our religions have so much in common. I am
surprised how much the Shariah is similar to the
Jewish Halakhah. At the end of the day, despite our
differences over the Middle East, we stand together.
You have my support.

If i live in an arabic nation am I free to practice my religious beliefs ,is kashmir written as amuslim area,is any one place on earth deemed to be
occupied by only muslims, are the western nations wrong all the time .Do
the
muslim people possess all the answers to all the problems ,should we all
convert and follow islam.I don,t hate but ,I can see the future of hate
coming ,no movies ,no entertainment ,no beer,it all goes against the way
of
life in the western nations,I,d like to know why a muslim would want to
live in anation such as britain,if they are the scum of the earth surely
you would not want to be associated.Buddism however is tolerant and
accepts
a person for the person not his religion. If you can prove a 100 percent
that kashmir belongs to the muslim you should have that land but I suspect
you have no concrete evidence as in the case of bin laden ,so you are
equally to blame for the trouble ,war etc in the world today

After reading many of the press releases of your org. I have come to the conclusion that your org. is determined to make the problems of their birth
world a part of their new world. As an American and a Christian. I object to
the lack of loyalty to the country you are living in.To the insistence that
we all fight for your religious rights as you seek to impose your morals
and values onto all the rest of the population that you live in. Although
you have every right to tell your own people what to think, how to act, what
to watch, see, you need to learn more about living in a free society. The
majority of the people in a free society do not feel it to be there duty to
impose their thoughts upon other. Since your org. feels that it is the
religious beliefs not the ethnic needs that are most important, you must
recognize that your religious beliefs that all Christians are
infidels(insult)and disbelievers puts us at a great disadvantage especially
since we are not welcome in your religion.
As to the Middle East countries and war and famine. We try to not get
involved in any of your internal problems hoping that the morals and
values of your religion will overcome any evil. But the cry that all the
countries in the Middle East are impoverished because of the US is a total
cop out of your own responsibilities. The US and many other countries have
been sending in food to these areas for years and years. and yet your own
religion will not help there own people.
US and other countries went into
your country and found oil,and then gave it back to you so that there would
not be a lack in the economic abilities of these Middle East countries, not
to mention the billions of dollars in oil that we buy from them. Yet we are
still responsible, why??? This very rich evil Ben Laden does not help his
own, the rich people, kings, etc. will not feed their own.And yet it is our
Fault. Have we not tried to help? When they ask for money as Pakistan did,
do we not give it? And like the rest of the US people they are charged
interest, We did not make them borrow it! And yes we all pay higher
interest then do they! Why do the Middle East countries Ask for help from
the US or other Free countries. When we give help we are condemned and
attacked and treated with hate. Why does this religion insist that we are
against Muslims? We allow you to educate here,we allow you to teach Islam
in our primary schools,We allow you to live here to get away from
persecution, We have never asked you to stop your religious practices even
while your very QA ran insists that Christians should never be allowed to
rule over themselves for they are not capable. So please explain why we are
expected to just except this.
As to the Attack on Afghanistan,They will not negotiate,They will not Stop
Killing Us,They did declare War On the USA. If you have another answer then
we should just ignore them as we have in the past many times. What would
that be. Why did your org. not help us to negotiate. could it possible be
that you are in the UK because of them and others like them? It seems you
want us to fix everything like the problems in Palestine. But if we did
fix it you would not like the answer and would not except it because we are
Christian. They pulled us into this problem to get what? This country is
Barely 200 years old,in what history of the Middle East could we have been
involved in? We are not the Crusaders, nor the Colonialists, We have no part
in the History that you all fight for nor do most of us even know what you
all fight for. The insistence that we suffer with fear and insecurity from
west to east and north to south is preposterous. Why??? we have not made
these leaders nor have we stopped the people from changing things. This is
caused by the idea that negotiation will change all problems, it will not.
Hundreds of countries have had the people rise up and take over their own
countries because of bad leaders. Why does the Middle East countries who
are all Islam in religion expect the infidels to solve their problems?
And now that we have been drawn into this problem. we know there is no way
to win,as we will be blamed for all and any problems anyway. So we may as
well do it our way. Which is probably the way no one will like. We should
have never been sucked into this,it was not our problems, but now that we
are here I suggest everyone duck!!!!

It may be that the reasons the Muslim Council advocates as the causes of mass terrorism are valid, but I get the feeling that even if these were resolved, people like Bin Laden would still attack western societies. I think that a root cause not spoken by the MCB is the inability of Muslims and their countries to adapt their faith to modernity. It is no coincidence that Bin Laden and his organisation is so closely tied to the Taleban, a Khmer Rouge type government. They just seem to be the extreme end of an attitude that seems all too common.
I don't dislike Islam. I never have. But I do think that living on past glories of what Islam achieved in its early days is as pointless as Britain living off imperial memories. There is a need to look to the future. It means a need for organisations like the MCB to promote/explain more actively than it does right now, concepts like democracy. It is really not good enough to blame the West entirely for supporting these ghastly dictatorships, when there seems to be a genuine lack of understanding at a common philosophical level of what a plural society means in practice. I would also love to see greater engagement in other areas like science, rather than trying to reach interfaith harmony only. I think that the MCB is in a good position to help with this.
My regards and best wishes.

I was horrified to read some of the hateful, racist, deeply inhumane
emails
you have received from my so-called fellow countrymen.
All I can say is that they do not speak for me, and they do not speak for
anyone I know. I am ashamed that they can call themselves english - they
bring shame to our country.
I have been privileged to have travelled quite widely in the Muslim world
- in south-east Asia, in north Africa, in Egypt and in Palestine - to have
visited mosques there and met many practising and devout Muslims. And
without exception, they have treated me with great hospitality and
kindness.
I am sure that I share with you deep misgivings, to say the least, at the
British government's involvement in military action in Afghanistan.
I wish you well in your efforts to maintain good relations between British
Muslims and the rest of the population of these islands, and I pray with
you that the horrific violence of September 11, and of the days since,
will
be replaced by compassion and understanding - inshallah....
May god bless your work,
