Trustee Roles – Human Appeal

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity inspired by Islamic values. We started in a small flat in Manchester in 1991 and this year we have worked in 24 countries around the world. Our aim is to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

We are currently recruiting for committed individuals to join our Board as a Trustee and expand our range of Trustee skills and expertise. Our organisation has flourished due to the hard work, passion and professionalism of our team and we are now seeking new Trustees to aid our continued development.

The Ideal Candidate

  • We are ideally looking for Trustees with experience in any of the following sectors: Law, Marketing, Medicine, Fundraising and Humanitarian or INGO work.
  • You do not need to have prior Trustee experience but we are looking for someone who at least has a good degree of management and governance experience in a business or charity setting, and who is familiar with the responsibilities of a Trustee and the Charity Commission Guidance for Trustees.
  • Our organisation works primarily in Africa, Asia and the Middle East and we have International Field Offices in Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Turkey and Yemen so it essential that our new Trustees are passionate, knowledgeable and well-informed about the issues faced by our beneficiaries in these parts of the world.
  • Human Appeal is currently undergoing a very busy period of innovation and we are reviewing our strategy so we are looking for people who are willing to donate the necessary time and effort to assist with this at Trustee level, particularly over the next 6 months which will be key for our organisation. Following this, our expectation is for your involvement to reduce to Trustee meetings on a once per quarter basis.

Becoming a Trustee is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the strategic leadership of Human Appeal and really make a difference to the lives of our beneficiaries worldwide. It is a really rewarding position and will also provide you with vital further skills and experience in management and governance.

NB: This is a Voluntary position and does not demand any monetary Trustee investment
